Challenging Behavior in Down Syndrome: Initial Surveys Evaluating Co-occurrence

چکیده
Down syndrome (DS) is a developmental disability caused by trisomy of chromosome 21 and as with other disabilities, individuals DS may present challenging behavior (e.g., aggression, tantrums, self-injurious behavior; Feeley & Jones, 2006). The purpose this study was to evaluate the presence in those surveying caregivers via Qualtrics. A link our survey sent out national local organizations that support population request disseminate link. Given limited response, modified (shorted reorganized) revised disseminated Facebook groups focused on DS. Although both surveys received responses, there are preliminary findings worth exploring further. Aggression, noncompliance, tantrum behaviors were frequently reported and, escape attention most perceived functions behavior. Challenging caregivers. Future research should be conducted examine prevalence function develop effective preventative approaches while promoting skill acquisition.

Several endocrine abnormalities are likely to contribute to a low prevalence of acne in DS patients. Androgens, such as dihydrotestosterone and testosterone, the adrenal precursor dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate, estrogens such as estradiol, and other hormones, including growth hormone and insulin-like growth factors (which are maximally secreted during adolescence), may each be important in the...

متن کاملDNA-Repair Capacity in Down\'s Syndrome
Down's syndrome (DS) is the most common chromosomal abnormality in human. Subjects with DS are known to be peridisposed to develop leukemia. The molecular basis of the association between DS and leukemia is unknown. The unscheduled DNA synthesis (UDS) test measure the ability of DNA-repair in mammalian cells after excision of a stretch of DNA containing the region of damage induced by chemical ...
